After attending a recent QuickBooks 2007 Accountant Update Seminar, I am recommending all my clients upgrade to QuickBooks 2007. There are some great updates to operating the software, and more capabilities to modifying the type of access you may want people to have.
One of the new additions to QuickBooks Pro editions and higher, is a NEW Google marketing tool. Whether you have a website or not, although in this day and age you should, you can link your business with Google so it can be found when people are searching for your type of business. It will even list your business in the Google Maps feature for free! There are other opportunities with this new integrated Google feature, such as creating an AdWords account to increase traffic to your website, and putting specific products you sell into the searchable key words. If you are interested in more information on these items, I suggest contacting your accountant, or a local QuickBooks Advisor.
If you are a user of one of the Premier Editions you will find some neat new tools as well. In the Premier Manufacturing & Wholesale Edition there is not the ability to convert different units of measurement. This is huge if buy something in one unit and sell it another. For instance, if you buy material in yards, but sell it in inches. The Contractor Edition has the ability to track expiration dates of liability and worker’s compensation insurance within each subcontractor. Even the Nonprofit Edition has improved with a new donor contribution summary report!
There are enough updates to make an upgrade worth it, no matter which version of QuickBooks you are currently using. Not to mention that you won’t run into problems with the new Internet Explorer 7 if you are using any QuickBooks version 2007!
Be on the lookout for discounts and coupons. Now is the time to buy if you are planning on it, and if you are on the edge, go for it!
